Every once and a while, someone slips a cool emulator past Apple’s App Store guardians in the guise of a seemingly inoffensive app. Well, just in time for Christmas, it’s happened again! Meet Floppy Cloud, an app by developer Kyle Hankinson that is actually a Nintendo and Super Nintendo emulator in disguise.

According to its App Store description, Floppy Cloud is an innocuous Dropbox or FTP server client that allows you to view or download files on your iPhone. But as Touch Arcade discovdered, Floppy Cloudf has a secret:

"It’s masquerading as a file management app, which technically lets you manage your files, but if you let it “manage” a .nes NES ROM or a .smc Super Nintendo ROM in a very special way: It’ll load right up inside of the appropriate emulator. Both iCade and MFi controllers are supported too, making this a particularly sweet find for someone who owns any kind of controller accessory."

Usually, Apple pulls these sorts of apps as soon as they make headlines, but with Cupertino gearing up for the Christmas shut-down pyramid, it’s possible Floppy Cloud will have a longer time in the App Store than most.
