If I remember correctly, the default controls of BF3 are what is known as Tactical button layout on Call of Duty, meaning that your crouch and prone button is on your right stick. Everything else is the same except for knifing. On Xbox it is your left bumper so on PS3 my guess it is L2 (someone please correct me if I'm wrong).

If your are good at CoD the gun combat in BF3 handles very similarly but the minor differences can make it hard. Take your time and don't expect to go well running around Metro loke you would on CoD.

Good luck. Soon enough BF3 will be easy for you Winky Winky

In Flames Much?
Conquest holding the flags bleeds tickets from the other team so does kiling them.
Rush is about spawn camping the other team lulz
Learn your recoil when to full auto and when not too. Attachments effect your guns recoil pattern depends what you put on. You must login or register to view this content.
Guns are not hit scan e.g bullet drops
Vehicles can help turn the battle don't fear using them
Buy the vehicles unlocks believe me without the unlocks your worthless and it hard to keep alive.
Use some of the awareness from COD it helps on BF3...like looking at your mini map where people died etc.

One big change is the knife is how it should be , it does one hit kill if you hold it down but it iffy. Best used on people you get behind and want to steal some dog tags.

Nothing else to say that not in guides and on this forum , any questions search the forum or ask people Smile

Easter Egg!
Get to grip with your vehicle controls, i reccomend joining a empty server & testing the controls out.
Bullet drop <-- if your going for kills at long range.. aim just a bit higher then the target. especially if your sniping.
Look around corners.. don`t go running into a room..
Help your team/squad out by throwing down health/ammo packs if your using assault/support.
Only jump in tanks/any vehicle if your a engineer, repair tool is the only think you should have selected.
Destruction.. the big difference from COD, if you see a enemy inside a building, blow the walls of with a rpg = WIN.
The Spot feature: while looking at a enemy, press select to spot them & they`ll show up on the mini-map for a short while.

Also, since your gonna be a a low level, i suggest using the M16A3 <-- One of the best guns for me.
That`s all i could think of.

The only tips I have is if your coming from cod and think you can just kill whore the whole game and not play the objective well guess what you can't.

Do a barrel roll!
Thanks for all the advice so far, I've heard getting used to vehicles is one of the harder things in the game

The vehicles are not bad. Quite easy actually. The jets, on the other hand, tough!

I have to agree with you. Best advantage is to study the maps. Especially if attempting to use medium-long range weapons. If you play them enough eventually you will be able to learn how to judge relative distance for different locations and approximately where you should be aiming.

Before the private servers and what not I used to take a shot at the guy (normally close enough to get his attention). Rarely do people run away, they typically try to find me. And the first shot was to figure out about what mil-dot the bullet is hitting at. After the kill you move on (don't sit in the spot long.. more than 5 minutes or 2-5 kills *still under 5 minutes*) but remember the distance and the bullet drop.

Besides that I would recommend that the OP learns to properly use cover. You can not really run and gun as much as COD and the majority of your cover can be blown up.
