I had my friend just unplug his internet for like a minute or two. Then it worked.

Did you have your system off at the same time.
Or try to delete the update ( Idk if you have a patch on )
Other wise you could just try and wait. Or delete the cod4 save.

Nothing else I know that would help.
Edit: Or try it all at once.

Go to cod4 game data utility and delete it.

Turn off the router you use (internet) and the ps3/xbox wait one min turn them back on and it will work
