I go to the network and sharing centre and click on the adapters...

I highlight the wifi and the ethernet cable then right click and bridge connections...

It bridges successfully, the internet still works on the pc, but when I try and use the ethernet on my ps3, it says unable to obtain IP, which makes me think it's something to do with the PC bridge....

Use the internet connection sharing feature. Bridging only allows one device to use the internet at a time if I remember correctly.
