Yes, look up Vmware and Virtualbox. You can run a virtual machine inside of Windows, if you want to actually boot linux without a virtual machine then this video should help you out:

Download virtualbox and make a virtual machine with whatever flavour of linux inside it you want, I wouldn't even waste time doing a dualboot.
