Post: Sexuality

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Important note: This is a very touchy subject to some people and rightfully so. Whilst negative comments about any given sexuality are OK, pointless and unnecessary bashing of other people's sexuality will not be tolerated. Once you cross this line your post(s) will be deleted and you will be warned, and if you persist you will be punished for flaming. I know this is a very strongly worded warning, however I feel given the thread topic it's utterly necessary.

Anyway, onto the debate itself- sexuality. There are many different labels of sexuality, so I'd thought I'd list them below(largely C/P to save time, if I missed any or falsely described anything let me know):

  • Heterosexuality- Is the sexual attraction between members of the opposite sexes such as a man attracted to a woman and vice-versa.
  • Homosexuality- is the sexual attraction between members of the same sexes such as man to man and woman to woman.
  • Bisexuality- Is the sexual attraction to both the opposite and same sexes such as man to man and man to woman, woman to woman and woman to man.
  • Asexuality- Is also known as nonsexuality which is the lack of sexual attraction and sexual interest towards others.
  • Polysexuality- Is the sexual attraction to more than one gender but do not wish to be known as bisexual as it implies that there are only two binary sexes, do not confuse this with pansexuality ('pan' meaning all) and ('poly' meaning many).
  • Pansexuality- Is the sexual attraction towards people regardless of gender also known as omnisexuality. Some pansexuals refer to themselves as gender blind as to them gender is insignificant in determining whether they will be sexually attracted to others.
  • Transexualism- Is when a person identifies themselves as a certain sex different from their own biological one. For example a person may be born male, and is uncomfortable with their gender as a male and changes to a female, or vice-versa.

Personally I'm heterosexual, however I have no problems with other people expressing their own sexuality and being who they really are.

Feel free to comment below and be honest, then hopefully this thread can be used to maturely discuss sexuality away from the nonsense you so often see elsewhere Smile

Here's to Loonyology!
It's not natural in any sense of the word.

Nature intended males to be with females, to reproduce. Nature didn't throw a spanner in the works and thought, 'hold up a minute, lets make it so male can like male and vice versa!' Homosexuality has been created in the last few centuries by humans. It is a man made spanner.
Only in the last 100 years has it become "acceptable" to announce you are gay. Before then, it was frowned up on, and not just by people of a religious background. It's the 'liberal' state of mind the Western World has brought about.
So, for those bashing on Budz for being from Egypt and of the religious beliefs he is is completely wrong. You're trying to justify your liberal beliefs and push them on others in a thread that was created to be liberal and for people to discuss their thoughts on the matter of sexuality. Hypocritical i'd say.

@ TC
You give stats in a previous message about gay people to population percentage. You gave some pretty farcical stats on the matter, care to share your source on this? Here is what I have found....

The way I see it is that being gay has been pushed on to people until it has become accepted. For example, look You must login or register to view this content. That is a list of gay events only for April & May 2012. It's been thrown in to society, put on peoples doorsteps and in peoples faces to the point of acceptance. The media and television has helped immensely in this cause.

I don't chill with gays, I don't look to socialise with them what so ever and I don't accept their sexual preference.

I'm straight and I don't mind gays, but it's only when they act like they are gay, that kinda pisses me off.

So long as humans have existed, so has sexuality in both regards. Male and female partnerships exist to continue the species, they coexist, if they manage to not kill each other that is a bonus. You are not born with the prejudice of gays, You gain that through life. Males being with males, females with females were considered normal in the ancient world, only when organized religion came along did this change. The only reason now-a-days that this seem to be a problem is that the media is tossing it around as if was a live grenade. People get their minds stuck on things that have really no meaning or purpose other than to stroke their egos. You being straight is no different than them being gay. You choose who you wish to be with.

Heterosexual; I, like most others, don't have a problem with people that are of another sexual-preference.

Well. I have read most of what has been said here. And I am very happy to see the open response to gay and bi orientations. It makes me proud to see people aren't so hard headed and homophobic.

Honestly, I'm bisexual. I have dated men and women. I have experienced sex with both. So I can fully and comfortably say I am bisexual. (Let the flames begin.) I in no way flaunt it. I don't act feminine. I have a feminine side for sure and it shows sometimes. But I don't walk around swinging my hips and talking like a woman. I'm a man. I don't pull that shit.

Unfortunately I have grown up in a religiously oppressive home. This has led me to suppress a lot of these feelings and opinions. Not many people know of my thoughts on this because I live in an environment where it is not socially acceptable. In my environment it's dirty, it's immoral, unacceptable, unforgivable. I don't have the option to live openly bisexual because my family wouldn't be accepting of it. My mom constantly makes slurs and hateful comments against gay people. "Sinners" "They'll go to hell" "Disgusting" "Fucking fags". The list goes on. And every time it makes me hide a little deeper inside.

So there is a short summary of my opinion and experience.

Homosexuality is found in over 450 species. Homophobia is found in only one.

Which seems more natural?

You seem to have conservative views, which to be honest, I don't respect in any way. Just as you can't stand to be around anybody that's not heterosexual, I can't stand to be around any myopic, closed-minded individuals. Please grow up. This isn't the 20th century, and it never will be. Things change. You best adapt to them or find some way to cope with it.

I'm heterosexual and a few gay friends, I understand it is their choice to be gay. I try my best to accept homosexuals though I have been raised in a strong catholic family and elementary school. Ever since I was a child I was raised to believe homosexuals are "unholy" and all that bullshit, which frankly makes me sick looking back on it. Children are easily influenced and it makes me angry that the catholic church feeds lies to kids at an early age.

I am heterosexual. Although, I have not had sexual intercourse, I have strong feelings for women, and girls of my age. In no way, do I have feelings for any males, and I am not 'A chick with a dick"
