(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Seeing as there's a thread for the US Democrat & Republican parties... I thought it would be a good idea to make a politics related thread for here in the UK. I thought having 1 thread would increase the debates and discussion.

So yeah, talk about it here. Smile

If you don't know much about UK politics, we currently have a coalition government between the Tories & the Lib Dems (Tories didn't get the majority of votes). The four main parties are:

Conservatives - British Conservatism, British Unionism, Eurosceptism -You must login or register to view this content.

Labour - Democratic Socialism, Support the working class -You must login or register to view this content.

Liberal Democrat - Social & Green Liberalism, Internationalism, Social Democracy, Left Libertarianism -You must login or register to view this content.

UKIP - Eurosceptism, Libertarianism, Traditional Conservatism - You must login or register to view this content.

There's also parties such as BNP who are right wing, BNP in particular are very anti-immigration, SNP & Plaid Cymru who focus on independence for their constituent countries, as well as other parties such as the Green party who support British Republicanism

Hmm, I'm not really sure what to think at the moment. David Cameron seems more trustworthy than the other two... But he hasn't really done much as of yet.

I didn't necessarily say that he was trustworthy, but certainly more so than Ed Miliband and Nick Clegg.

More I read about the green parties polices the more of them make sense. Liberal Democrats are the party I support as of right now due to letting members pick a policy. It's a great shame we don't have more MPs which are smart people over just a winner.

Conservatives are on the right don't like anything they say.
Labour I feel are weak left.
UKIP is a one trick pony on the EU.

I agree with you on UKIP. If more and more people vote UKIP then they will split the conservative vote and we'll have somebody that neither parties want back in charge. All the conservatives need to do is hold a referendum on whether we want to stay in the EU or not, and UKIP will soon become irrelevant. Also, their environmental policies are just moronic. However, I do quite like Nigel Farage, he seems like a good leader.

I don't mind Lib Dems, I'm still iffy about Labour.

I still think the conservatives and labour along with the lib dems should just say "Look we are keeping the EU, however we want it more liberal and decentralised EU." Problem was nobody talked about it, nobody wants to talk about it have a serious debate it pretty easy to put down. Same deal with a lot of other issues UKIP voters like to hear but are madness.
Nigel Farage is funny but in my eyes not a good leader :p

Ironic that the conservatives want to kill off the EU project but made it.

My biggest problem with labour is just how I get the feeling it a big group of left people put together with policies which don't work with each other.

ok so. For starters pretty sure this is the wrong section, uk politics and intellectual really dont go together. :blank:

The lib dems are a joke. No one takes them seriously and never will unless they can become one of the top parties. At the moment its labour and conservatives, with the lib dems following behind on a leash.

Its interesting that you mention david cameron being 'more trustworthy', thats my issue with politics in general, but especially uk politics. We have no say who represents each party, and as such, i refuse to vote. I cant stand david cameron, hes a posh boy who has no interest in the middle or low classes, and as such butt rapes them completely with almost every policy he tries to push.

Labour are just disastrous, every week you hear another scandal about the iraq war, and every week i cant help but lose more faith in labour. And ed miliband, he just seems so out of place, and whenever he makes a witty comment seems very smug about it, as though he needs a pat on the back. He doesnt seem at all ready, and i dont think he ever wil be, to run a country.

And nick clegg, bless him! The whipping boy, how can a 46 year old man let another man walk all over him, he is essentially the conservatives bitch. No respect whatsoever for them, lib dems just did well because at the time they were a good protest vote.
