Over 500 schools were closed today due to severe weather as Scotland and England are buried in snow!

Hundreds of air passengers have been left stranded as Aircraft's cannot depart airports simply because of the ice'y frosty conditions pilots feared would cause the engines to "freeze"

Other motorists have had to abandon their cars on the highway in aid of food as they were left isolated and alone buried under 5 feet of snow.

Several car accidents have occurred throughout the UK causing more chaos amongst the people.

Here are some statistics which have been lately recieved:

> About 1,200 homes in Scotland still have no electricity

> Southern Energy said 3,000 homes had been affected earlier but engineers had been reconnecting electricity supplies

> The council said it had used 12,000 tonnes of salt compared to the 3500 tonnes used during this period of 2009

> More than 450 schools closed in England

and about 95 schools closed throughout Northern Ireland.

Here are some images of the effects of the tremendous power of mother nature.

Where I am in Ireland another 10 inches (25CM) of snow is forecast for today, it was meant to arrive 4 hours ago. That's on top of the 3 inches we got yesterday that hasn't gone away. I went into school today but it wasn't worth it. I just had free classes all day and there were only 7 people in my class today. Tomorrow all the secondary schools are closed in my county. Luckily Ireland bought a hell of a lot of salt for grit last year. Some areas are using over 3 times they usually use in icy weather. Personally I'm glad to be off school, as would a lot of people in school.
