Sure, Gates is still really, really rich, and you could say that his giving doesn't affect him or his family. But think about this: Do you give a third of your allowance to charity?

The US govt could spend all of Bill gates money in 13 minutes.
They could spend the combined wealth of all three in just under 40 minutes.
At a rate of 3.9 billion per minute, They lead in pissing money away.
Gates, his wife, along with Warren Buffet have secured over 140 billion for the trust and they must spend 7 Billion a year to maintain their charitable status. His father is chairman and a former Microsoft exec is the CEO.
The investment portion of the trust is real power and they have averaged a 13% return so far.
It is remarkable that this much wealth can be aquired by so few and it is commendable that he and others have decided to establish these charitable efforts.
But the gates family will never be shopping at walmart in the future and this effort is another form of power he has found fun to play with.
