    I'm fairly good at algebra.

    5x + 2y = 48
    3x + 2y = 32

    10x + 4y = 96
    -6x + -4y = -64
    ---------------
    4x = 32
    x=8

    To find y, plugin 8 for the x in either equasion
    40 + 2y = 48
    2y = 8
    y = 4

    x=8
    y=4

    Cost of Adult ticket is $8
    Cost of Student ticket is $4

    no, You would do the multiplication first... 5*8 = 40, 2*4 = 8 Then you take the 40 and the 8 and add them, Multiply and divide first then add and substract.

    He is right, I-MilkShake-I. When solving algebraic equations you must go in the order known as the order of operations, which is:

    1: Parentheses and Brackets
    2: Exponents
    3: Multiplication and Division
    4: Addition and Subtraction

    Also reffered to as PEMDAS or,

    Multiplication

    Addition
