Are you retarded? The reason our descendants founded this country was for religious freedom. It was founded on the premise of separation of church and state - hence no federal endorsement of a religion. The nation was NOT founded on a religion, but it wasn't founded AGAINST a religion.

That's not where we ****ing came from though! Our founders were Deists and atheists, not Christian.

I agree with this, more or less. It's easier to just leave it there, it will cause less issues, if we try to remove every instance of God in this country, people will keep freaking out and rioting and making a big deal about it. Let the zealots have their fun, it's just a few words that have no impact on our lives. It makes them happy and keeps them quiet.

/facepalm Our ancestors came with the ideal for religious freedom. In God we trust wasn't added until the 1950's. Separation of church and state is in our very founding. This goes against the constitution.

1. It isn't just atheists who want separation of church and state
2. It goes against the constitution

We didn't come from that! We came seeking religious freedom, to an extent.

Honestly, what the hell do you call this?

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

The first amendment to the US constitution!

That is idiotic. If the majority of the US were into sacrificing their children does it make it right even though its illegal, absolutely not!

You're my hero for this comment right here. I'm starting to love this section of the forums, because I see how some people actually see things for how they are

From an atheists point of view, definitely no.
When the masses(those that have half a brain or less) have been brainwashed in to believing there is a god and all of a sudden the government dismisses that fact, will only bring chaos IMO.

You have every right to voice your opinion but you can't go around saying shit about religion or the followers of that religion like that. And just putting IMO and the end doesn't make it better.

Free speech? I talk about peoples religions all the time. I'm known for religious arguments. As matter of fact I got into a debate with some girl in my History class about the U.S. being established as a "Christan Nation". lol
