(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); I'm just making a simple disscussion thread: what would it take for you to believe in aliens?

I mean, if we see a video of a star doing something obscene on tmz, we believe it, but a video of a UFO doesn't do it for us...

If I were to post a video of a alien, it would be labeled BS. If I uploaded audio, it'd be BS. If I uploaded pics, it's BS.

Anyways, short of actual interaction with one, what would it take to make you believe in one?

The same evidence that would make me believe in Gods, Spirits, and Leprechauns. Adequate, undeniable, logical, and universally-observable evidence that confirms their existence. Fuzzy videos, obscure photos, and partial accounts of alien encounters (usually fabricated by lunatics anyways) are not convincing at all. If they cannot be detected by any sensory organ, calculated, or if there isn't any observable effect that their existence causes, I will still stand firmly to my belief that they do not exist.

I actually believe that other life does exist in the universe. It'd only make sense, seeing how big the universe is. But to actually spot other life in our life time, very unlikely but still possible. Who knows, maybe there has been aliens spotted but have just been covered up.

I'm just going to say that the universe is way too big for just us humans, I'm pretty sure there is aliens whether I see any evidence or not.

I find it odd that you decide to put aliens in the same category as gods, spirits, and leprechauns. Life outside our solar system not only does exist, but mathematically proven. The very idea that we are the only intelligent life in the universe is not only highly arrogant, but ignorant. Placing your decision on whether or not to believe on video, audio, or by word of mouth while very prudent also provides a problem . How can any such evidence be substantiated, when no one wants to take this subject seriously?

I understand your skepticism, but don't write off life exists elsewhere just because you have decided there is no evidence.

I'm not completely denying the possibility; extraterrestrial life certainly may exist. Just as there isn't significant evidence that would convince the general public that intellectual alien life exists, there isn't any evidence denying it either. In my post I simply stated what I hold as a belief, trying to sound as nescient and open-minded as possible. I'm sure that with time and advancements in technology, we will soon approach a more widely-accepted and uncontested conclusion...

Understandable. It is hard to see any evidence as most as you have mentioned is rather bogus. I would like to believe we do have some evidence to the positive, but unfortunately it would be drowned by the numerous fakes out there.

1. We don't always believe it
2. A star doing drugs is more likely to happen than aliens (Something that has happened plenty of times in the past and repeats vs. Something never proven)

I'd need hard information and evidence. More than simple observations.

Daddy's home.
I think given the size of the universe, for us to be the only things in it is just, well it doesn't make sense. There are planets trillions of light years away, there are trillions and trillions and trillions and whatever the fuck come after after after after trillion plants out there. How can it be that only 1 planet out of all those that our mind just can't comprehend, is the only one to hold life? It just doesn't seem right.

Now, UFO's exist. Unidentified Flying Object. Doesn't have to be alien, it's just something that no one, at that time, knows what it is. Now Alien Crafts? I doubt they've been to Earth. I think Astronomers have pretty much established that there isn't anything living in our solar system, unless they are hidden underground, the Hubble scope would have more than likely picked something up of alien life. That's what I can't see Aliens visiting Earth. The technology would have to be immense to be able to travel that far and fast to reach here.

Having said that, nobody knows how advanced they could be, whether they are intelligent or not. Maybe they have been here and it's been covered up by governments. I think only a very, very few people will know the truth. I can't see them visiting here in our life time and publicly announcing themselves though.
