(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Ok, before you start typing, "This is in the wrong section. Go post it in the XBOX 360 Discussion section!", let me explain. Im not having an issue with my XBOX itself. In my opinion, its more of an electric problem. I couldn't find the "general questions" section if there is one so I just posted this here. Mods, please move this if you think its in the wrong section, thank you. Ok, so here it is:

(I'll try to make this as short as I can)

Ok so, my brother moved back in with my family and I due to his girlfriend just completely leaving him about 2 maybe 3 weeks ago. While he wasn't living with us, he bought a new TV for his house and left his old HDTV here at my parents house. When he wasn't living here, I'll admit, I had one of those dinky ass old huge TV's that sucked cock, lol. I had no issues with my XBOX at the time though. Once my brother moved back in, he put his new TV that he bought for his house out in our living room and let me have his old 55" HDTV that was out in the living room. Ever since I put that TV in my room, my XBOX has been turning off afte about 10mins of playing a game. Like I said, when I had my old huge TV, it didn't turn off on me. I could play for like 4hrs straight and not have one issue. Ever since I got the 55" HDTV, my XBOX hasn't been able to stay on for longer than 10mins.

Now, my question is, with so much stuff plugged into one outlet socket thing, could it make my XBOX 360 overheat quicker due to so many things plugged in at once? I had one of those extension cable things that let you plug in like 6 things at once instead of the usual 2. With that extension cable, I had my 55" HDTV, my router, XBOX 360, XBOX 360 controller charger, and house phone plugged in all at once. I'm thinking because I have the HDTV, my router, and my XBOX 360 plugged in 24/7, its using up so much power that it causes my XBOX to overheat super fast. I'm currently working on moving stuff around so I don't have my XBOX 360 plugged into the same socket as my TV and other stuff. If that's the problem, I'll let you guys know.

Please put what you think the problem is down below to help me out. Thank you!

P.S. I have the original white XBOX 360. Yes, I cleaned out the dust and stuff.

My guess is that the Xbox is now displaying in HD thru the HDMI which means the console must work harder causing more heat to be generated. Just a guess but it sounds like what could be happening.

I recommend you disconnect your 360 from everything, and plug it directly into the wall (and don't connect the 360 to anything), and see if it stays on for longer. If it stays on for longer, that means you have too many things plugged into the extension. If it doesn't, then it might be the cable, if so, try and use a different power cable. If that still doesn't work, then something must be wrong with the 360 itself. If you were using RCA cables instead of a HDMI cable, try reverting back to the RCA cables and see if it doesn't overheat. It could be the graphics card is overheating too quickly, as I believe with the old 360s, they had poor cooling.

I have the old XBOX 360, the white one so it doesnt have the HDMI port though. Im using the standard HD cables the XBOX came with.

I moved things around so its only my XBOX and my phone charger plugged in. Thanks for the help by the way. I'm going to try playing right now and post results in a little

Ok, i've played for about 20mins now and my XBOX is still going. I guess I was right. The TV just took so much power that it just caused my XBOX to overheat and shut off within minutes. Again, thanks for the help

Get a PS3, problem solved :troll: On a serious note, TV must be taking up too much power. Give it its own socket.
