Well what do you expect, one is front page news seeing as it's a 1st world country where shit like this doesn't usually happen that other is a 3rd world country where this sort of thing happens far to often, I mean look at when Top Gear went to Iraq, they were wearing body armour and helmets, it might have been a joke but for it to be funny there has to be some truth behind the matter.

Also would you ever expect to see a front page headline of "dozens killed in Iraq bombing" no because it happens far to often, not to say that makes it excusable but, and not to be nasty but people just don't give a shit what happens out there.

Although, I mostly agree with you (I'm from the US by the way) I have to put my 2 cents in. If there was a mass shooting every day or every week in the US, people would start to dismiss it as a regular event. When you first went off to college, it was like "OMG!!! I'm in college!!!" However, in a week or two, it starts to become normal and not as exciting. I understand why the people of Boston and the rest of Massachusetts are turning their head, but the whole world?

Edit: On another note, the world was fucked up for a long time now.

For the people that say, "Oh well none of you care about Iraq," can you truly say you follow and pay tribute to every single death in the world? No, that's ridiculous. The reason things like today's bombings garner more attention is because they're unexpected tragedies that happen in our country. Do you really think people in Iraq care about the Boston incident? Surely there's some but those people are just as much a minority as the people in US who care about the Iraq deaths. I personally care about today's events because I'm from Boston and I don't know if any of my friends or family have been injured.

I don't get why everyone feels the need to compare incidents to the worst of the worst though. Yes there are hungry kids in Africa, yes people die everyday, why does that mean no one can care about anything else? Obviously if the world could mold itself to our wishes there would be no violence or crime at all but that's not how it works. Don't act like just because people care about something, that automatically means they don't give a damn about anything else in the world. Like I said, it's important to many Americans because it was a tragedy that came out of the blue and hurt many citizens.
