Micheal was talking about how he wants a better way to log into your accounts. In his talk he started to release details on what paypal has been working on. Paypal is not alone in it goals Fast Identity Online (FIDO) Alliance also has the same goals which is to destory passwords!
"Our intention is to really obliterate, within a certain number of years, both passwords and PINs and see the whole internet — including internally in enterprises — obliterate user IDs and passwords and PINs from the face of the planet."

The plan by using a device to check it you, a USB key or sensors or something that needs user interaction. Google have already done a user interaction based protection system for it google accounts.
We already have USB key services like Yubi key. Biometrics is likely to become important in protecting user accounts within a couple of years. Maybe one day the password is going to die out but may be a long time away yet. Would be lovely not having to remember all the passwords in the world for a couple dozen sites.

That sounds sorta scary... I feel like someone would learn how to hack that and then they'd be able to completely destroy your life.

Most systems which use biometrics you still need to input your pass into the system too.
Also using biometrics you need to be alive and that person, one of the newer systems is veins in your finger. Which is impossible to fake you need blood flow for it to work.
Scary it does fix the problem of weak user end passwords.

Yeah, but you know how expensive it would be to make that? Let alone own that... Not everyone would be able afford that.

You can already buy a USB with finger print scanners included in the case.
So the tech is around to be produced at a low cost if companies want it, laptops also have biometrics systems in some models. Only a matter of time before it hits most devices it used to be on higher end products but slowly appearing in lower end models.
New iphone meant to have a finger print scanner on it.

I wouldn't trust any type of biometric security system on the internet. I like the idea of everyone having an unique one time password though like a Yubikey :p

In japan they have turned phones into your bank card. So turning phones into a one time password over forcing you to buy a device like a yubikey may be more likely.
