The city was the main port for trading in the late Ancient Egyptian economy. You could find Greek and Phoenician money and items there. Heracleion is named after Helen and Troy or Hercules who had visited the city before.

Based on the fact its location would mean an increase in sea level mixed with a decline in the heights goodbye city!
