(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); I have recently gotten the 4.4.2 Kit Kat update on my Verizon Samsung Galaxy S3, I am wondering is the bootloader still locked as it was when 4.3 OTA was out? Can I install custom roms w/o the need of Safestap? Anyone here please help me out if you can.

I don't know if this will work for Verizon, but I used CF-Auto root to root. ( I am on Rogers SGH-I747M).

This is what I found on the internet.

1. Return your phone to 4.3 stock
You must login or register to view this content.
2. Re-root with Saferoot
You must login or register to view this content.
3. Install Safestrap and then you should be able to load CM into a Safestrap partition
You must login or register to view this content.

Then use Goo manager or Rom manager to install a custom recovery. Then find a ROM you like and flash away!

Try XDA Developers and start a thread on the S3 Help section. All i know is that you cannot downgrade firmware because of the new bootloader but i don't if that is in effect with the Verizon S3. I have an international version of the S4 GT-I9505, so i'll know a bit of info.
