As of right now this thread only consists of Samsung Devices for Rooting however there are many other Manufacturers supported in the Custom Recoveries section.

Devices will be listed by manufacturer then the Device Model - Device Name - Android Version will be in the spoiler below.
e.g SM-T800 (Model Number for Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 wifi) chagallwifi (Device Name - Basically a code name for the device) 5.0.2 (Version that can be rooted - 5.0.2 and below)

Device Model can be found by going to Settings > About Device (Some devices may vary slightly)

Samsung phones and tablets - If your device is not listed then its very likely it can not be rooted. All the devices are rooted from Chainfire and through the use of ODIN (Guide below)

Custom Recoveries

Samsung Phones and Tablets (All of these custom recoveries are from TWRP)
Guide below for installing a Custom Recovery without a computer, this requires root. Installing from a computer can be done without root through the use of ODIN.

They are listed by Device - Device Name (This is very important when it comes to installing the correct recovery)
e.g Samsung Galaxy Alpha - (slte)

Rooting your Samsung Device with ODIN

First off find your Device listed in the root section above and then click the download button
Once downloaded, open it with winrar / 7zip and the contents should look something like this:


In the rare case that there is no ODIN.exe found in the folder then download it seperatly You must login or register to view this content.

Installing a Custom Recovery with TWRP (Team Win Recovery Project) - Requires Root

TWRP Recoveries are all touch screen recoveries

First off check if there is an available Custom Recovery for your device in the list above.

This guide is almost identical for any Android device / Manufacturer as long as there is a recovery available (Check above) and is very simple but again I will make it as noob friendly as possible. Open the spoiler below.
