It would not be unfair to say that Grand Theft Auto is a goldmine for Rockstar. The franchise is immensely popular, even controversial at times, but it continues to soldier on despite everything. The BBC is interested in the story behind Grand Theft Auto and it has confirmed that a feature-length TV programme is being created which will tell the behind the scenes story of Grand Theft Auto.
The show doesn’t have a title yet but games journalist Guy Cocker, who is one of the people involved in this project, says that the 90-minute drama is going to focus on the people behind the creation of Grand Theft Auto.
No details about the cast, plot and transmission have been revealed yet. Cocker has been developing it and the script will be written by another writer.
The possibility exists that people in the U.S. will be able to watch this show on BBC America when it is finally released. Cocker has said that Rockstar is not a part of this production.
Gaming studio DMA Design released the first Grand Theft Auto title for PC and PlayStation in 1997. DMA later went on to become a part of Rockstar. Grand Theft Auto V is the most recent release in this franchise that’s available on previous-gen and next-gen consoles. It is confirmed for the PC and will be released later this year.
