In sony vegas the video on another video is very easy. The border can be done...but it is not as easy the way I know how to do it. Anyway. To do an overlay. Create two video channels and place one video on the top, one on the bottom. Then lower the Opacity of the track on the top and there you go. Overlayed.

Error… Cat invasion!
Just load up photoshop create a border have the center clear and save the image as .png, then lay over the top of the video as a new video channel

In Sony Vegas, go to Pan/Crop and just Crop the desired amount to get that border look.

OR, Make your own in Photoshop and add it on top of the layer. Make sure it's PNG or GIF so you can see thru.. if not simple Key out the part you don't want or use Cookie Cutter.

Or in AE you could create a new white solid, then create a rounded rectangle over the white solid (so its a mask). Then go to the mask settings and select subtract? This means where you selected the rounded rectangle to be will show the video and all the white space around it will be... white, thus you have a border Happy

I only know it for After Effects, you put the video you want faded above the main one in the composition, you then select it and press T, the drop down thing will be Opacity. Just change that to your liking 30-40% should be fine, but you see what you like :y:
