6.4/10...... would be better if the flow was with cudi.. he is giving a sense of flow towards the bottom but you have stuff going up. not bad tho

I was considering working with the flow of his gaze but decided to use an explosion-style flow in the end because the other type ended up with too much bad space in the top half. I agree it would've flowed better, but I think the cons of the rest of the tag would've made it worse overall. Anything on the smudging? I'm trying to work on that the most right now.

And I had made an entire text tutorial before... but lost it.

Anyway, my biggest tip is to remember that the text is as much a part of your art as anything else. Don't just throw in text last second, spend time on it. I can't really give you too much help unless I see you post something with text in it otherwise.

Here are some styles of text I've used, take a look and let me know if you want me to explain any of them:

The Twilight one is fairly easy. I used the same font, just the heavy and medium versions, but keep in mind:

-I kept the text inside basically a box, with all four lines starting at the same edge and all of them being held within the height of the two characters' heads.
-The text color is black, to make it pop out of the almost-white background as much as possible
-The most important word is obviously "SPARKLES", and it's the punchline of the joke (the entire tag is a joke, obviously)
-The changing of font sizes gives a hierarchy of importance to the text

This is a little more complicated in structure, but still not hard to replicate:

-You obviously know the drop shadow that I used, which gives the text a bit of a cheesy feel, but I wanted that to separate it from the tag
-I duplicated the tag (sans text) twice and used clipping masks to give an overlay of the tag to the text, then moved the duplicates of the tag around to a spot that looked good
-Note that I used the colorful overlay on the word "Storm" and the stormier, gray overlay on "Color" just to give a little variety - having "Color" be the colorful word looks more boring, and removes the emphasis from "Storm"
-The second line of font is indented so it's not quite past the first letter of the first line - the two letters overlap just slightly - and the "r" at the end of "Color" has plenty of extra letter underneath it so it doesn't look like it's out of place (which sometimes can happen)

Note especially the placement of the text - it's situated right at the point of the triangle of the most saturated colors, making it the natural stop for your eyes. It doesn't go against the flow of the tag at all and gives context to an otherwise abstract smudge tag.

Also notice that only 3 of my tags utilize fonts that aren't normal-looking fonts. You don't need some fancy font that looks like a bunch of cat tails bent into the shapes of letters to get the point across that your tag is about cats. You don't _need_ the Halo font for your Halo tag.

Tut on something similar to RS's color storm tag, if you'd like to know how to make something similar;
