Post: Help!!! iPhone won't stay connected to iTunes

Need some help please, my partner has just replaced the iPhone 3 (he likes that version) and I can't get it to stay connected in iTunes. I have done the hard reboot and the DFU and I can get it to say that the phone needs to be re-stored but as soon as I take my finger off the home button, it disappears from iTunes.
Any suggestions??

did you hit the restore button? i think you need to be more specific here..
