The launch of Halo: Reach is snowballing into one of the biggest events of the year, and although it might not be Halo 4 by name, it's certainly looking like it'll be a fully-fledged Halo game in its own right, unlike Halo 3: ODST.
Microsoft has issued two big Halo: Reach announcements, the first of which was to be expected, since pretty much every big release these days gets its own console bundle. Well, Halo: Reach is following suit, and will get its own Limited Edition bundle, with a bespoke silver finish and matching controllers.
Designed by Bungie, the Xbox 360 Limited Edition 'Halo: Reach' Bundle packages two matching silver controllers and a copy of the game into the box, as well as a Halo: Reach-themed headset, an episode of Halo Legends and a token to download the Limited Edition Elite armour for use in the game.
The console has all of the same specs as the standard Xbox 360 Slim, with a 250GB hard drive and so forth, but has its own Halo sound effects instead of the standard beeps and blips.
The Xbox 360 Limited Edition 'Halo: Reach' Bundle will be available in the UK exclusively from GAME and GameStation, from September 14th and will cost £249.99 ($399 in the US from particpating retailers). Separate silver Halo: Reach controllers will also be available from September 3rd (late August for the US) for £39.99, ($59.99) and will include exclusive artwork and an Xbox Live Avatar Covenant Banshee item. The silver Reach headset will be available on the same date for £34.99 ($49.99). Check out the console unboxing - which also includes unboxing of the various editions of the game - in the video below.
Microsoft has also today announced that the Forge 2.0 toolset will feature in Halo: Reach, and will be called 'Forge World'. Forge World will pick up where Halo 3's Forge mode left off, but will provide a huge landscape on one of Halo's rings to use as a canvas to build custom creations, which can be played alone or in co-op with up to seven friends over Xbox Live, or three friends in splitscreen.
Halo: Reach touches down on September 14th, 2010 worldwide, except Japan, where it arrives on September 15th, 2010.
