The 3.60 update is here, and it's features include:

Setting the amount of time before a controller turns off after you have stopped using it.

Cloud Storage [PS+ Users only for the time being]: You can now store up to 150MB of date or 1,000 save game files on the cloud. This basically allows gamers access to their saved data on the cloud by logging in. It also allows the back up of copyrighted saved date along with regular saved date.

"Other minor Features"- As broadly stated by Sony.

PS3 hacker Youness Alaoui, better known as KakARoToKS, states that the new firmware has a "completely revamped security architecture model that does not use the exploited and compromised loaders, and therefore unhackable."

Wow, in 3.60, Sony removed all the loaders, no more isoldr/lv1ldr/lv2ldr/appldr.. but they added lv0.2! Seems they found a way to secure ps3.

We already have the metldr key, the thing is that they don’t use metldr anymore, at all!

They can’t update or remove it (metldr), but very surprisingly, they just bypassed it, it’s there but unused..

What that basically means is that the PS3 loads metldr at some point, launching the OS and game loaders, which the hackers were able to bypass. A presentation by fail0verfl0w showed that the metldr can't be changed, meaning the PS3 would be forever defenseless. However, it appears that Sony has come up with a way to bypass metldr. Now, if they properly signed their codes, the PS3 should be once again secured.

This won't stop online hackers, all it'll do (once they've fixed bypassing) is stop anyone with only 1 PS3 from modding.

Anyone with 2 PS3s will still be able to mod, so they need to ultimately remove data transfer utility and force a re-download of all patches... that would secure the system... for now.

After updating to 3.60, if you goto system settings and goto data transfer, it has some interesting language. For people such as myself that used the 3.41 data transfer method, there might be a problem. I'll let those who still have 3.41's respond as to what this means, but to me it sounds like they found a way to delete the modded data from the sending PS3 (which would be the 3.41) during data transfer. Please let me know if it isnt so.

I doubt that tbh, unless they stopped data transferring from including game data(patches) & DLC.

Nothing is completely unhackable.
The devs could hack it but it would mean starting from scratch Not Happy or Sad
