Zelda Ocarina of Time was a legendary game! Took me almost 3-4 months to complete. Was worth the time though. Smile

Ok look.. i LOVED mario 64.. and Zelda Ocarina and Goldeneye and RUSH 2 and all those games... that was by far one of the greatest systems ever, but see just because we got rid of our systems or sold them or whatever happened does NOT mean we had to lose those great games... i have a Softmodded Wii and have ALL of the Games i just mentioned and it is just as good and works flawlessly. Do you have a Wii ? if you do i am more than happy to help you softmod it and get the games your looking for.. you need a Cl,assic controller to play some of the games but the do make a N64 controller adapter that can plug into the GC controler ports. just let me know.,..

Be Honest... really...

In that case, I feel the Nintendo 64 is the most overrated, overhyped, nostalgia-driven console OF ALL TIME! It was a mediocre console at best that failed in almost every way that mattered and was easily outshone by the much less powerful PSOne and SEGA Saturn which both had better games, better controls and had each been out for a good few years by the time the N64 had hit shelves. Less than 2 years after the N64 was released the Dreamcast was out and by comparison the N64 is nothing but a waste of space. The Nintendo 64 honestly was about on par with the Panasonic 3DO and other than me and a few hardcore retro gamers, no sod even remembers that console (and even the 3DO had been out over 2 years before the N64).

All the games people remember as gems on the 64 where sub-par crap. They're either all early polygon, badly controlled, 3D platfomers with bad cameras like Donkey Kong 64, Banjo Kazooie, Super Mario 64, Conker's Bad Fur Day etc, the Zelda games, which honestly are good but when compared to actual adventure games and RPGs of the time *cough* Final Fantasy, they're really rather lame and childish, or it's the really early and shitty FPS games like Goldeneye 007, Perfect Dark etc. which where awful. Compare them to games like Alien Trilogy on the Sega Saturn over a year earlier, or the first Half-Life and System Shock 2 on PC which came out at the same time. There's no comparison.

Then there's the controller. That hunk of plastic is the worst designed peice of shit to grace gaming since the Virtual Boy. Whoever thought the analogue stick needed to be on it's own little central prong was off their rocker. Seriously, there was no comfortable way to play that game.

The N64 didn't just such at genre range, game library and decent controls. No, the N64 has literally some of the worst games OF ALL TIME on it. Anyone who disagrees can play Superman, Carmageddon 64, Castlevania: Legacy Of Darkness, Daikatana etc. these are some of the worst rated games EVER. Even it's ports like Rayman 2 and Spiderman where butchered and cut short which much better versions on both the PSOne and Dreamcast. Honestly, when it comes to Nintendo you should go from SNES straight to Gameboy Advance. All their good stuff was either a late SNES release like Donkey Kong Country 3 or ended up on the GBA such as Metroid Zero Mission and Mario Kart Super Circuit.

Does the N64 have some decent games, sure... but compared with it's competition I put it at 4th place for it's generation, yes, even behind the 3DO, and that's BEFORE the Dreamcast showed up to embarrass the console further. The only reason the console succeeded was brand recognision. Nintendo where extremely popular in USA, Sony was an industry newcomer and SEGA had made a bad move with the 32X which cost them a lot of support from customers. The only reason the console is remembered so fondly is the average person on the internet now was about 5 years old when the thing came out, which means they where all stupid kids at the time and now love it for nostalgia AND they have a massive online community of people who feel the same reinforcing these opinions. If you go back and play the N64 now, it's total shit.
