(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});Many rumours are suggesting the next generation iPhone to launch in the next few months. Credible sources are suggesting October, 2012. Concepts of what the device may possibly look like have emerged from You must login or register to view this content.. This concept mock-up has been called the 'iPhone Plus' by ADR. It depicts an iPhone with a 4.3″ screen, aluminium back and, to top off the outer design, extremely thin casing 'for an edge-to-edge thinner profile'.
Hundred of voices, scoops and descriptions allow us to imagine the new upcoming iPhone 5.
The mystery just starts around its name: what’s the new iPhone name? iPhone 5? New iPhone? Simply iPhone?
We’ve thought a new concept for you, with a summary of these features.
Let’s start with the name: Say Hello to iPhone Plus.
Like Macintosh Plus, iPhone Plus is the real evolution of iPhone concept.
It arrives 5 years after the first unveiling, on January 2007 and it brings to us the most advanced technology ever seen on a smartphone:
- Liquidmetal Body: thermoformed on a single plane, no junctions needed;
- Screen with double alkali-aluminosilicate sheet glass;
- 4.3″ Retina Display with In-Cell technology;
- A6 Quad Core processor;
- Rear Camera: 10.0 Megapixel, f/2.4, 1080p Full HD video at 30 frame/s;
- Front Camera: 2.0 Megapixel (VGA), 480p VGA video at 30 frame/s;
- Rear motion sensor;
- Top pico-projector to beam photos and videos on any surfaces;
- Slim design for an edge-to-edge thinner profile;
- New slim-dock connector;
- Fully Capacitive Home Button;
iPhone Plus is a giant leap in the future of the smartphones.
It’s the Non Plus Ultra smartphone.
Now, this is more of a fantasy by the artist than an actual prediction of what the next iPhone will be. Apple seems settled on the iPhone screen size, which is 3.5″ across the diagonal. A 4.3″ screen is absurd for Apple's standards, going against the idea that the entire screen should be easily reached with your thumb (when the device is held in one hand). The image below displays the thumb tap radius when holding the device with one hand:
The concept includes a quad-core processor, which is great for mobile gamers, edging the iPhone closer to matching the console experience. I welcome this upgrade, however, some of the other features I am more critical towards. A thin, less rounded device adds the extra possibility to dropping and may also be uncomfortable to hold for extended periods of use. The design may look great, but is it practical?
I think the designer has done a great job with this concept. This would be sure to stir up the smartphone market. However, I would much rather see all these features included in an iPhone 4s size device. Apple is right on the money with the screen size, and many long-time iPhone users are happy with this design. Apple would also like to keep the iPhone screen size down, as so it does not start being regarded as a tablet that can make phone calls. What do you think about this concept? If Apple were to pursue this design, would you buy it or upgrade to it from a previous iPhone model?

As said above it looks alot like the SG2, no doubt really it will look like the iphone 4 and 4s though. If this was packed into a 4.3" screen with all the newest functions I would buy it! I like the iphone's but the screen size is just far to small for me :p

i think i am in love with those renders. but what i would love to see is the iphone+ with the flexible displays which would make them more durable and fancier in my opinion.
Really nice article, but as I always say that Apple are very conscientious about most of their newer and enhanced releases. So I think that it will take a while for this type of thing to come more in recognition and in retail. I like the concept of the device and I think it's comparable to the Galaxy S II.
As you say:

I think that Apple may also be going for a Samsung Galaxy Note type of concept as the screen size is obviously larger than usual and the device will offer 3G/4G communication technology.
Overall the product looks great, and I will be looking forward to more rumours and prototypes/ideas. . Nice thread Storm.

It will more than likely be a new design, as the 3G and the 3Gs carried the same case, then the iPhone 4 and 4s had the same case. This could lead to them using a new case for this years iPhone and next years iPhone. whether it be the 4G and the 4Gs or iPhone 5 and 5s.
I think this years will be the 4Gs as they have 4G technoligy out now and will be used more in phones. Apple named the iPhone 3G that because it added 3G support, so I think this years will be the 4G.
