7 years to be exact. Now, there is a rumor floating around that the next game in the series
is in motion and in development.

The handheld market has seen a lot of love for almost the past decade, and fans have long wondered when
a sequel for Kingdom Hearts 2 would be released. Hell, I want to know when just a Kingdom Hearts game will
touch consoles again.

However, with KH 3 Dream Drop Distance releasing in the summer, the series lead Tetsuya Nomura has
said that the next Kingdom Hearts game is already under way. He has also said that the announcement will
be published soon in Japan's Kingdom Hearts 3D Ultimania guidebook.

The trouble with the speculation however is that there has been a long standing precedence for the past couple
of years that Kingdom Hearts has turned into a handheld series. There have been multiple spinoffs, and while
a Kingdom Hearts 3 for console would be fantastic, I fear that the studio behind the new game will once again steer
clear of the consoles and make a spinoff for the PS Vita. With rumors and speculation, I often say take everything
with a grain of salt. There's no indication whatsoever that the new game will be KH3, but that's what I'm sure hoping for.

Do you guys feel Kingdom Hearts is in need of another console game? Or could you care less?

Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2 were just amazing and one of my favorite PS2 games to play when growing up. But Kingdom Hearts 3 has been long overdue... I respect the creators for their high regard of their storyline in the Kingdom Hearts series but putting off the development on such a huge game to make handheld Kingdom Hearts games in order to link the Kingdom Hearts storyline together is just too much of a trade-off. I never enjoyed playing handheld games after the original PSP era and I wasn't going to go out of my way to buy these little Kingdom Hearts games just so that I can completely understand how the characters and storyline match-up throughout the series. Square Enix is lucky that Kingdom Hearts 1&2 have garnished much acclaim and respect from the gaming community and is still a topic for discussion amongst the community. I wouldn't be surprised if Final Fantasy 13 Versus comes out before Kingdom Hearts 3. I say we have to wait another year or two, to see Kingdom Hearts 3 on the PS3.

I honestly can't blame Square Enix for what they are doing. From a publisher's standpoint they were/are in a financial ditch during/after the recession and I think they are just milking out any financial profit they can from their popular game series so that they can seem some what financially stable in this economy. In a sense I do feel bad for them as they cannot compete with power house corporations like Activision and EA who publish/develop very popular, high selling games. I really do look forward to Kingdom Hearts 3 and at this point I know critics and gamers alike will have REALLY high standards for this game and expect a masterpiece and hopefully that is the case, if not... Square Enix will have to learn from their mistakes and just move on.

I loved the Kingdom Hearts series. gameplay was awesome but its too bad the final mix versions were japan-exclusive. I wanted to rematch the organization members

REALLY hope they release one for consoles. The first two were two of my favorite games of all time.
