Default Black Ops 2: Killstreaks, Weapons, Vehicles and Timeline

The official Black Ops 2 debut trailer has gone live, as NGU user reports: . The trailer hints at many potentially new vehicles including kill streaks and new weapons. Also, the possible timeline of the game is 'mentioned' during several sequences in the trailer.

The futuristic orientated setting of Black Ops 2 is something we have never seen in the Call of Duty series. This article will break down some different elements of the debut trailer to get an idea what Treyarch has in store for us come November!

    The Quadrotor

First off, the Quadrotor. During FPSRussia's viral Quadrotor video, he called it “Charlene”. As it turns out, what we initially thought was true. The Quadrotor will indeed be appearing in Black Ops 2. Notice in the image below, “Charlene” etched into the Quadrotor body:

    “Charlene”

Quadrotor, as seen from the front.

Finally for the Quadrotor, a screenshot of the first person view is included below. This is most likely from 'Strike Force', a tactical sandbox game mode. Notice the objective markers, protect and secure.

    Remote Turrets

Most likely a multiplayer kill streak reward/unlock. Reports suggest the Remote Turrets are known as Autonomous Ground Robot (A.G.R.).

    Cognitive Land Assault Weapon (C.L.A.W.).

    Jets

The image below includes the same jet as seen above, as well as what appears to be an un-manned X-45 on the far right.

    Manned and Un-manned jets

    Unmanned Combat Air Vehicle (UCAV)

    Drone View

    X-47 Pegasus

The X-47 Pegasus (another UCAV) is most likely to be introduced in Black Ops 2's multiplayer. The second image could be from multiplayer or a possible arcade mode. It shows the player earning 55 points for killing an enemy on the ground.

    Possible X-47 Pegasus Image

    Weapons

The weapons below may have some functions other than shooting bullets, especially the pistols! It will be interesting to see just how hi-tech these pistols will actually be!

    XM8

    XM8

The following image appears to be of the M16 Assault Rifle. It is possible that this is a flashback scene and not in the futuristic time period of the game.

Below is a Light Machine Gun (LMG) from Black Ops 2. It does resemble the M240 from previous Call of Duty instalments.

This is most likely the (AK variant) AN-94 Abakan.

Finally in the weapons category, a shotgun. It appears to feature a high-powered optic, that could possibly be 4x or higher.

Black Ops 2 Dates and Timeline

The narration during the trailer is done by original Black Ops character Sgt. Frank Woods on June 19th, 2025. The dates indicated in the trailer have a range from July 23rd, 1986 to June 12th, 2025.

A total lunar eclipse is set to take place on September 7th, 2025, the same year in which this game takes place. In addition, a total lunar eclipse is set to happen on November 13, 2012, the planned release date of Black Ops 2. Check out my article which talks about a possible link between the dates.

That's all for now! I love the new vehicles. At first, I was very critical about Call of Duty taking a leap forward into the future. It just didn’t seem like Call of Duty. However, these images have gotten me hyped and I can't wait to learn more. Will you be pre-ordering Black Ops 2? I will wait until the Hardened Edition is revealed before pre-ordering, which will be in the coming months (based off Modern Warfare 3's Hardened reveal).

    Thanks for reading!

The M16 Could still very well be in this game. Its been the militarys main assault rifle for the past 40 almost 50 years. Why couldn't it be for another 13 years?

EDIT- And its ony 13 years in the future, you think we're going to be using lasers or something? There still regular firearms.

If woods was in Vietnam he must be about 85 years old in 2025

Looks pretty weird since this doesn't looks like cod anymore They should release a multiplayer trailer to give more information how its gonna look online. And different zombies and multiple campaign outcomes is shit since then you need to play campaign multiple times for all archievements / trophies

Just my two cents but there seems to be even more screen control killstreaks here then all the other CoD's. but anyway looks like all the killstreaks are gunna change abit

I'm not trying to be rude, but seriously, what kind of nonsense is this? Start up your original Black Ops game, then start up your original Modern Warfare (or 2/3) and on all games you get the Activision badge followed by the Treyarch or Infinity Ward badges respectively (depending on what game you load up).

This is because Activision is the Publisher of Call Of Duty and owns all rights to Call Of Duty. However, there are 2 developer companies which develop the respective Modern Warfare and Black Ops series (as well as W@W for Treyarch). This is because, to deliver on the promise of giving us a new Call Of Duty each year, one developing studio is always working on a new game whilst the other is in play.

A game can be whatever the developers decide they want it to be, nobody owns the right to futuristic gameplay, only to titles. Since Activision owns all rights to Call Of Duty, it makes no difference whether Treyarch or Infinity Ward develop an individual game, they can do whatever they want with it in terms of when the game is set.
