Minecraft for Xbox 360 will launch Wednesday next week on the Xbox Live Arcade (XBLA). The console version is being developed by 4J and will feature single player, eight player multiplayer over Xbox Live plus two and four player split-screen. It will sell for 1600 Microsoft Points.
Also available will be Minecraft-themed Xbox Live avatar items. These items will include Minecraft shirts, pets, items, props, and headwear, dashboard themes, and gamerpics. The cost of these items will vary, from 80 to 240 Microsoft Points. Watch the brand new official trailer below:
The Xbox version will have some differences from the PC version. For starters, mods, texture packs and extra player skins are said to be available much later. A tutorial mode will be included unlike the PC version. The tutorials include building a house, mining and placing blocks and surviving your first night! The crafting menu will also be noticeably different. It will still feature the PC's 2x2 and 3x3 crafting grids, but you won't be required to drag the items into the crafting grid. Instead, you will be asked what item you wish to craft and to confirm you have the correct materials. The game will then craft the item for you and place it in your inventory. Xbox Kinect functionality will also be available, just not at launch.
At first, I was very critical of the Xbox Edition of Minecraft. Arguably, it will never be better than the PC version; however, I believe it will be a great game to play with a few friends on Xbox Live. I think I will be buying it because I do enjoy Minecraft on my PC. I do not have a real issue with the lack of mods or texture packs. To the Xbox users: will you be buying Minecraft for Xbox? Or for the PS3 owners, would you buy a PS3 version?
Thanks for reading!

Definitely buying this, playing minecraft on a 51" HD Tv![]()
Won`t be as good as the pc version but considering there won`t hardly any lag/frame rate on the xbox version (hopefully) it`s worth trying out.
And i`m half expecting microsoft to make us pay for add-ons like mods/texture packs.. which are free on pc. -.-
