It works like this:
Crawler or zombie (works for both!) must be targeting the player that will do the glitch. Other players must be sufficiently far away so the crawler/zombie won't change targets while someone is attempting the glitch. If you are alone, you can get crawlers on the other side of the map to enter the glitch!
I do it this way: Pick the gun in your arsenal that you move the quickest with. Back up to make your back hit the wall opposite the hole in the floor. Make sure you can fully sprint (stand still for 5 seconds). Sprint towards the hole, staying centered about the hole (not too far left or right). You should hit your head on the bottom of the wall you are sprinting at (If not, adjust your position left or right a bit until you do hit your head - you will notice a brief pause in your forward motion when done correctly). You want to land sprinting, or sprint as soon as you land if you aren't already. Stay towards the left hand wall (without touching), and run back out of the tunnel and back outside. Turning the 180 degree turn at the top of the stairs tightly and quickly seems to help.
It seems that you change position too quickly for the zombies to adjust, since they can't follow you down the hole. A quick check to see if it was done correctly is to stand near a zombie. If they don't attack you, you did it correctly. It is not uncommon for some of the crawlers to be what I call "non-believers" - they don't enter the glitch, or it takes many tries to be successful. Repeat repeat repeat and they'll soon become believers! Sometimes only 1 of ten does it, sometimes only 1 doesn't do it. It certainly does work, though.
Uses: distract crawlers when the ??? box is near C.
distract crawlers when the ??? box is at original location
Make a fast crawler take a detour
Make people you're playing with say WTF???
Hide a couple crawlers to do what you have to do when playing with idiots
Revive a player surrounded by crawlers (not always applicable!)
Generally give yourself more time when you need to buy perks, guns, upgrades, etc.
