To add on to the buzz coming from E3, Sony unveiled the You must login or register to view this content., which is the first of many of Sony’s new PS2 Collections. Instead of making newer models of the Playstation 3 backwards compatible, Sony plans on releasing PS2 Collections of games with improved qualities. With the Sly Cooper Collection, Sony has made plans to include 3D integration, meaning 3D is a possibility for other PS2 games coming back in the near future.



Because of the positive feedback from PS3 community from the You must login or register to view this content. released last year, Sony plans on plenty of these new HD PS2 games being released in the near future. While many gamers would rather have all the PS3 models support backwards compatibility, this is surely a welcomed alternative. So, for those of you without the ability to play PS2 games on your PS3... sit tight; collections are on the way.

If you could have any game made into a collection for the PS3, what would it be? Personally, I'd like to see all the 007 Games.

because the new ones are shit in my opinion

All the old SOCOM's would like to see those back. And maybe the original mercs. Theres probly a lot more, just have to go through my PS2 collection and see what there is.

Unfortunately I don't think we will see any sign of it until after Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep, Final Fantasy XIII Versus and Final Fantasy XIV... That's not necessarily a bad thing though as I will be purchasing all 3 games I just mentioned

Like you said in your post, backwards compatibility is the preferred path. I think Sony is doing he right thing here, though, in terms of marketing. They know how much people want to play their old favorites, and therefore, they're providing them for us in a way that provides them with more revenue. I know that makes them sound like terrible people, but in essence they're just being a good company.

I might have to get some of these collections, depending on which ones are released. God of War wasn't a big one for me, because I had never gotten into the series in the time of the Playstation 2. Now that I've played God of War III, however, it might be worth looking into. Sly Cooper, on the other hand, is a must buy for me. I was an immense fan of the series when it was still being released, and loved it from the beginning of game one to the ending of game three.
