When the mass exodus of talent leaving Infinity Ward occurred earlier this year it begat rumblings that the decimated development studio may be pulled off the Call of Duty franchise. While the whispers were at that time treated as overreactions, it seems that now things are looking bleak, as Activision is considering "refocusing" the studio on other projects.

When asked if Infinity Ward would continue to be a Call of Duty studio, Activision EVP of of studios David Stohl said, "We're not saying right now. There is definitely a strong shooter philosophy there, for sure. And I think that there's a short- and long-term view on the whole thing. But I think we're rebuilding a studio that can go off and build great new franchises in the future."

Sounds like a very vague way of saying that Treyarch will continue its role as a Call of Duty studio while Infinity Ward may be quietly put on other projects. If that's indeed the case, then oh how the mighty have fallen.

"If you strike us down, we shall arise and destroy you all".

Even though Infinity Ward's last game, Modern Warfare 2, was one of the most successful titles ever, the studio was absolutely gutted as dozens of senior staffers left to join ousted former bosses Jason West and Vince Zampella at the newly-formed Respawn Studios. Industry watchers have been wondering if Infinity Ward can even survive this whole ordeal, or if the studio would simply be folded in with Treyarch or Bungie and quietly killed off. Seems that IW will live on, but now Activision will be doing their best to distance the studio from its former flagship franchise, instead pushing them to work on a different IP.

At this point we're left to wonder what might have been had Activision not canned West and Zampella in what quickly turned into a rather public and particularly ugly firing. Had the whole thing been handled with a bit more tact then maybe Infinity Ward would have remained mostly undisturbed and right now we'd be getting our first taste of what was in store for Modern Warfare 3. Alas, hindsight is 20/20 and now both sides are left figuring out what to do given the way things are, not the way things might have been. It's just sad to see an entire studio continue to get caught up in the middle of a disagreement that spiraled out of control and now threatens to humble what was once one of gaming's most-revered development houses.

Well I don't care if IW quits or what not. They won't listen to our feedback or nothing. They just care about the green.

Is there a difference in graphics with Treyarch and Infinity Ward?

Looking for Suzzy
I have a feeling Activision fired those two leaders before they let out their little secret; I feel that Vince and Jason have an idea something as original and fun as Halo on xBox, but for both consoles.

I guess it's just a matter of time before Respawn releases the next "Halo" for both consoles.

Well Infinity Ward will go on to bigger and better things but Treyarch games always have much less glitches and hacks and fair game play.
I like Infinity Ward's games so if they continue in the Call Of Duty series I would definitely buy them. But if they don't they will loose a lot of money.

I'VE GOT JUNGLE FEVER
This is a real shame, this is all Activisions fault they wreaked IW, there was no need to fire their bosses there just money hungry and I hope they get sued for the total what Jason and Vince want. They made the first cod and this probably wouldn't all be here tbh without IW

Guys infinity ward didnt do anything, the only bad thing they have done is a couple bad perks. It happens in games and thats why if they make modern warfare 3 it will be even better and they wont screw up. Infinity ward its like the only modern warfare franchise to listen to community and stay MODERN with weapons and other things. I love infintity wards games like Cod4 and MW2. I thing people bitch to much about it and there are ways to not get nubetoobed and commando its called leave the game or just get over it. No one talks about how great spe ops and the single player was..I thought it wwas really good...Treyarch i thing wil do good in black ops just because its MODERN and WAW was a joke besides zombies.

I am error
This is a shame, and as MMO said: 'the mighty have fallen'.

Call of Duty 2, and Call of Duty 4 were both fantastic games. It's a pity that Infinity Ward disbanded the way they did, if they hadn't, I'm convinced they would produce many more quality games.

Modern Warfare 3 would be completely different, Ash. The new staff would entitle things you aren't accustomed to in the previous Infinity Ward made games. As for your comments about avoiding the problems, I say this:

Why should I have to? Why should anyone have to leave a game because of an abuse? The OMA pro-pipes should have been fixed a long time ago. As for your comment about Black Ops being successful because it is modern, then you are mistaken, it is set 20+ years in the past.

Teerar you make me laugh lol, I have mistyped. I mean "MODERN" like not WW2 or anything before that because that is just shit games. Well you have kinda changed by mind on the leaving game part O well, its part of the game. I known how you feel about MW2 Teerar, lol. You of all people would quote me on this Smile But i am just trying to back up infinity ward on the good things and not hate them because of 3 or 4 bad things thats all..
