When we thought things couldn't get worse...

It's nothing new for Microsoft to be bashed for what for so long seemed a failure with the Xbox 360. While great games were releasing left and right, the number of console failures and malfunctions were on the steep rise.

You'd have thought that the leaders up there at Microsoft would have ensured a better life for the Xbox 360 Slim, re-creating their tarnished name in console reliability. Unfortunately, it seems we should be no less worried with this model than our old ones... if not more.

First, let us recall a piece of news regarding the red ring... or now red "dot" of death. When an Xbox 360 Slim is failing, rather than displaying a red ring of death, it will display a red dot of death.

Here is something said by Microsoft:

When you say [Red Ring] is an old problem, you've got to go really old. It's unfortunate, and I'm not trying to dismiss it. It hurts me personally when that happens. But it hasn't really happened for a while. The stuff we're seeing is only really happening to people with launch consoles.

I don't know about you, but this certainly isn't the voice of confidence to me. To me, I'm still seeing plenty of uncertainty regarding the Xbox 360 Slim, and it's ability to succeed where its predecessor could not.

It is clear that the issue concerning console failures has not been completely solved, granted some people have already experienced the issue. For proof, watch the video below: [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X7AMf92r5eI"]YouTube[/ame].

Secondly, the issue regarding heat. It is without a doubt that one of the greatest issues concerning the original Xbox 360 models was overheating. So, without further a do, I'd like to tell you the good news: The Xbox 360 Slim rejects more heat than the older models!

Wait a second... that isn't good news! Before you new Xbox 360 Slim owners begin to worry further, I'd like to give you some reassurance.

Despite the fact that the newer console heats up nearly 12 degrees celsius more than its predecessors, the new ventilation system should provide you with some comfort. The new ventilation system insures that the internal temperature is regulated. The external temperature is the one the heats up quite a bit more than previously. The worry still exists though, because 54 degrees celsius (at the ventilation outlet) is never a particularly good thing. So, your best bet to avoid overheating would be to, as always, keep it away from a confined space.

Just like with the older Xbox 360 models, not everyone has issues with them. The point of this thread is simply to expose the fact that there are underlying issues, and that the newer model did not indefinitely solve them all.

In response to your comment about his Xbox 360 placement, I encourage you to watch the video, and read his comment concerning that:

For those who think this is normally how I placed my brand new 360. It is NOT.. I had to move it here for better lighting and video recording ease to show viewers the 360 bricking.
