Massive news has just been revealed by Treyach that local matchmaking will feature in Call of Duty: Black Ops.

Treyarch's community manager Josh Olin divulged this at this year's gamecom in Cologne, "[multiplayer matchmaking] will enable matchmaking with people in the local area."

It was in September of last year that Robert Bowling, creative strategist at Infinity Ward, admitted that "There isn't an option [in Modern Warfare 2] to search specific regions/countries when matchmaking, but there is improved matchmaking to auto-assist."

Today's exciting revelation could prove to be the end of lag for all future Call of Duty games.

Do you think this will prove to be the end of lag in Call of Duty?

Well on Xbox and Ps3 EA can afford to do it for games like Bad company 1 and 2 have dedicated servers and No1 is still being played now on both consoles. So surely a game as big as COD they could easily afford to run some servers with all the money they make from map packs and the game itself, The interest alone from those sales would easily afford it and more. I think they should at least have dedicated servers for Xbox as we pay for online gaming And maybe for PS+ members too

Activision do not care about the gamers, all they want is the money.
They were even trying to add a subscription fee on Modern warfare 2 when it is quite obviously broken. Dedicated servers would be a brilliant idea I just cant see it happening at the moment. And may I ask what does PS+ have to offer? I am asking this as my ps3 broke last year and I have not got the money to buy a new one lol.
