Community Update [04/27/12]

Over the past few weeks there have been a lot of changes made on the forum, I'll do my best to keep this short but there's a fair bit to cover.

Merging Media, Reporters and Tutorials into 'Media Team'

Media, Reporters and Tutorials will remain as separate teams - so applications for them will still be done separately - but they will now all come under the banner of Media Team. If you would like to contact a member of one of the sub-teams within 'Media Team' simply click 'View Forum Staff' at the bottom of the forum and the teams are listed under individual headings.

The change was made because we had a lot of usergroups (along with a lot of different colours) and the feedback from new users was that this was both confusing and a little intimidating.

Premium Benefits

A page has been made outlining the benefits of donating to NextGenUpdate; which can be found here. In there you will find Premium Testimonials and the perks of Premium listed.

Out-phasing of Sectional Moderator

The 'Sectional Moderator' position has been out-phased and replaced by simply 'Moderator'. Moderators now have 2 sections each and will focus their attentions on those instead of a number of different forums to ensure moderating is kept at a high standard.

If you need moderator assistance simply click on the forum regarding the topic you are looking for help with (e.g. MW2 Patches) and you will find the moderators of the forum listed at the bottom of the page.

YouTube Team Apps

Applications are currently running for our YouTube team, formerly 'Media', if you are interested in applying click here. The position requires that you submit regular content to our YouTube channels, NextGenSource and NGUPlayer.

Competitions

We are currently running a Modern Warfare 2 Patch-Making Competition and a competition where you can Design a PS3 Theme for NGS.

I encouraged the removal of the sectional moderator group some time ago. Glad the NGU gods finally agree. I think the site is really moving in a good direction; merging several user groups under one discreet "Media" banner simplifies quite a bit, and rids me of my concern of there becoming too many user groups on the site.

For along time I preached about how NGU was heading straight for destruction, and I'm glad I was wrong.

The admins have been ahead for whatever reason this month haha. First Reaper said the Media Team applications were open till May 29th and now Dave is a month ahead on the community update.
