i don't play comp. games but one of my cuz's do. so i know a lil bit about this. I say core, and get a really good graphics card, like the ATI HD 5770 1 GB, and make sure the computers ram is atleast 4 GB's, but the higher the ram and graphics card, the more smoother the games are going to play =D

What I found on Google:

The AMD Quad Phenom has a maximum clocking speed of 3.4 Ghz, compared to the the Intel dual core maximum clocking speed of 3.33 GHz. This combined with a faster communicating ability between cores due to the 2000 MHz maximum FSB (Front Side Bus) compared to 1600 MHz FSB in Intel dual cores, AMD Quad Phenom is much faster. The AMD Quad processor also costs lesser than the dual cores of Intel. So AMD is clearly the winner here as it is faster and cheaper.

Also for the graphics card. Both companys make ace products. So I recommend getting any of the ones you listed, as long as they fall within ur budget.

Quad core and 8GB of RAM will usually be better to play game on the highest settings, and to render quicker. Not sure about the graphics cards though.

i would recommend the nvidia geforce gts 450 1gb....i personally feel nvidia has better graphics than the ati cards....been using nvidia for about 5 yrs now and im pretty happy with it....i remember getting an ati card, cant remember which one but it ended up only lasting me about 5 months and then my display kept crashing because of it so.
