Post: This will sound stupid but this was my breakthrough on signing .pkg files

OVER 9000!
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Edit: If you want a signed FTP server it might be on geohots website as you see this, his site is currently down while I posted this, which could mean its being updated You must login or register to view this content.

If you are serious about trying this and getting further than me or try to critique me on what I did then read the WHOLE thread.

I know in the other thread I said I wasn't going to share my breakthrough but its 4am and I'm too tired to keep testing it, I know this is going to sound really stupid but its using notepad. Basically I got to the point where, it would install as if it were official but it would never run and it would make my PS3 constantly crash and the hard drive **** up, probably due to me accidentally ****ing with the actual parts of the .pkg rather than the start, or its just never going to work. I stuffed around with it in the notepad when I replaced the start of the file with one from said official signed file... I would know what part this was but I can't find the official version of what I was using it was something I've had for awhile but I saved over it because you can't save as a different .pkg file using notepad or it will just save as a text file /facepalm

What I have basically been doing is comparing the different starts of the files, that are in every single signed .pkg file actually made by sony, I saved one here but the rest I forgot because I was too pumped,

*PKG€ * À * * ** *` *à (code1 download so its the actual code, no asteriks: You must login or register to view this content. )

You will have to have the right fonts saved on your computer to use them/see them though or they're useless.

Oh btw, the file I got installed as official was using the whole complete start of the BF1943 unlock :

*PKG€ * À * * ** *` *àUP0006-NPUB30077_00-BF1943USLICENSE0 and it also had a shitload of spaces I really can't be bothered counting, but I REALLY don't think that matters.. (Code2 download so its the actual code no asterisks: You must login or register to view this content.)

THE ASTERISKS ARE LETTER CHARACTERS THAT IT WON'T LET ME POST /facepalm I uploaded them as .txt files so you can actually use them now

P.S.

The freeware program Notepad++ is better to do this in.

Replacing the data from an unsigned .pkg and putting it into an already signed .pkg is alot easier if you have any idea what you're doing.

I HONESTLY think doing ANY of this is useless and no one else will get any further with this, geohot probably modified the firmware instead of .pkg files themself, its easier but more dangerous, you can easily brick your PS3.

P.P.S That thread I posted about testing the .pkg files without a PS3 thread doesn't always work for all .pkg file types, for example I looked at .pkg files that are a part of the actual firmware itself and they won't extract/open with it Cool Man (aka Tustin) some official .pkg files for games also didn't work when I tested them, the one I used to install ftp server didn't even work.

Also, alot of this probably won't make any sense due to me being so tired and I've gone over some parts and changed parts of what I've written.

In conclusion like I said I honestly don't think anyone will get any further in this but is more than welcome to try all they want to, you can find all the signed .pkg files you want in my other thread. I would also recommend trying to use SCE start of .pkg files I would post em but it takes like 20 mins to compare all the files just do it yourself xD... you can find the SCE start in firmware .pkg files just extract your firmware and look through the .PKG files there are tools about this

I also just realised I haven't put a download link for the modded file that installed but didn't run and crashed when I did, so here it is:You must login or register to view this content. it might be uploaded wrong my connection sucks also. Only problem with it is after I ran it off of USB and the PS3 crashed parts of it changed after it was used, I really can't be ****ed bothering with it anymore, just compare parts of stuff with ctrl+f using find etc.... If anything doesn't make any sense english-wise in this thread let me know I'm so tired xD I'll fix it in the morning...

Also subscribe to my youtube channel, it will be the first place anything goes if I figure this out, as a 30 second video showing it done is faster than a thread to make and tutorial to put in it to do xD You must login or register to view this content.

Nice try but all you would of found out from this is what a signed .pkg looks like compared to a signed unpackaged. You still need to pack it and sign it as it is packed I believe.

Well, unless you are 100% sure this will probley work then il be happy to come with you and help, as long you dont **** up my ps3 too much.....

Since kaka relesed the CFW, will he not have a better chance and be able to mod the CFW to run unsigned .pkgs?

Or am i just talking jiberish?

Modding the CFW to run un-signed .pkg files would be alot easier, its what geohot did( Or atleastI think he did)

Anyways good night peeps
