(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); So you play on a computer monitor or TV that only has HDMI inputs and no component? Well since we cannot record through HDMI on PS3 because of its HDCP protection, you must bypass it. I have made this chart with Astro headphones included. If you do not have them, you can just take the astros out.

There a few things that are required besides just your PS3 and a Hauppauge (May also work with other recording devices besides Hauppauge also)
This will only work using the Hauppauge with 1080i or lower. I will include a few links of what I am using also. Not all other similar products may work.

:::Required Hardware:::

1. 1x Playstation 3

2. 1x Hauppauge Recorder

3. 3x HDMI Cables - You must login or register to view this content.

4. 1x PS3 AV Component Cable - You must login or register to view this content.

5. 1x Component to HDMI Converter - You must login or register to view this content.

6. 1x HDMI Switch - You must login or register to view this content.

7. 1x Component Cable - You must login or register to view this content.

8. 2x Optical Cables (Only if using Astro's) - You must login or register to view this content.

When everything is connected you will use your HDMI switch to switch between component and HDMI output on your TV/Monitor. You will need to change your PS3 Display settings each time you switch, though this way will require no wires to be removed and switched everytime.I believe I have covered everything, let me know if I missed something.

that HDMI doesn't work on ps3, or did you not read? It's Xbox only.

You cannot record using HDMI on the ps3 no matter what Definition it is in. Unless you use a workaround like this. Why is that so hard to understand?

The HDMI that is advertised to work and record with, will only work on Xbox.

New! Now with HDMI and Component Video in plus no-delay HDMI video passthrough!

HD PVR 2 comes with HDMI in and out to make it easier to connect to your Xbox 360 and your HD TV set. For the PS3, HD PVR 2 comes with a PS3 Component Video gaming cable, while still using the HDMI out for no-delay passthrough to your HD TV set!

To clear this up, I have an HDPVR 2 gaming edition. The Gaybox has an HDMI out port built in on the backside, as a PS3 does not. However...with the HDPVR 2, Hauppauge gave a 1080p connector for the PS3, which has almost the EXACT same shit as an HDMI. Perfection, and glorious really. 1080i is over rated anyways.
