With the PlayStation 3, Sony's got the only console that features Blu-ray technology, which proved to be the winner in the battle with HD-DVD a while back.

So the company is looking to take advantage of the high storage capacity of the media and put both a full length high definition film and a PS3 game on the same disc by the time 2012 rings in.

“We are actively pushing, and the way that we see the future is that the movie and the game are placed on the same disc,” explained John Koller, director of hardware marketing for the PS3 in an interview with Video Business.

“There are a lot of developers who say, we have this game based on a movie, wouldn’t it be great to marry these concepts? We will definitely see this stuff this year.”

It certainly sounds interesting -- but Sony will have to make it cost-effective to the consumer. Simply knocking off a couple of bucks off of the full retail pricing simply will not cut it.

lol @ Blazerkid..... Common bro.... Sony stole blu ray tech from LG.... Thats reidiculous.... if anything both Sony and LG are in the Blu Ray Disc Association.... So stop posting such random facts which adds little to no information to the thread...

on-topic: i hope the blu-ray would still be charged 60$ and not a 100....
