Hackers promise revenge on Sony for abusing the judicial system in an attempt to censor information on how products work.

Anonymous is a collection of hackers with an anti-corporate agenda and a track-record of successfully disruptive tactics. Previously, the group has claimed responsibility for denial of service (DOS) attacks on Mastercard and Amazon for their compliance with US government demands to stop doing business with Wikileaks.

The group also claims to have brought down the website of the right wing fundamentalist Christian group the Westboro Baptist Church and infiltrated the email system of security firm HBGary.

It seems as if Sony's problems are getting worse. With all the lawsuits the hacking comunity has had enough. Sony needs to decide their next move carefully. If they keep this up then it will only get worse. We still dont know what Anonymous plans to do to them in order to get their revenge. One thing is for sure, Sony is in for surprise later on. It seems as if Anonymous is serious about getting their revenge.

After claiming that Sony’s lawsuit against George Hotz et al was an attack on free speech, hacking collective Anonymous on Sony. Hoping to seek revenge on the company, Anonymous warned that Sony would soon suffer for their actions. Now, and has fallen to the hackers, with more sites promised to follow.


Speaking on a IRC chat a group of Anonymous are currently attacking several Sony sites. At the moment both Sony.com and PlayStation.com (including the PlayStation Store over PC) are down, presumably due to a DDoS attack – a distributed denial-of-service attack. People involved in the attack, called “OpSony” are asking that hackers “crash all server of sony please”. (Update - Some people can connect to Sony.com, but the site is extremely slow).

Update 2: The PSN is also experiencing intermittent connection issues for numerous gamers. (Sony have that the “PSN currently undergoing sporadic maintenance. Access to the PSN may be interrupted throughout the day. We apologize for any inconvenience.”)

In detailing some members plans for the attack, other sites targeted include and which are currently up.

Several members have also stated that the “Operation isnt over until sony do a press release”.

Update 3: Anonymous have released a video

Sony has yet to comment on the attacks. PlayStation LifeStyle will keep you updated as the situation develops.

i dont think geohot will win. not that i dont want him to win, just that big corporations like sony usually have their way in these instances. not always, but most times, they do. i can understand why sony is going to court for this, they dont want people tweaking stuff and using it online to gain an unfair advantage on players. me personally...i HATE cfw now, just imagine, if cfw was legal....mw2,black ops, cod 4....and other games coming out would be a trainwreck from all the little kids calling themselves " 1337 haxorz" and ruining the game....mw2 was a nightmare, deranking just for playing. couldnt find a legit lobby anywhere. only a small percentage used the cfw or challenge lobbies. now, if its legal, expect a HUGE jump, and no game would be fun anymore for regular players. it would get boring after awhile. on top of that..game

Yes you're right, to a certain point thoug. you're missing the part that you only mentioned the GAMER part of PS3,and not the DEVELOPER side of ps3. see look what you said makes alot of sense to the GAMING part, little kids using the JAILBREAK,CFW and wat not. to do their inmature needs, and if you STOP right there: "thats" how SONY looks at us the same way you see these inmature kids using something that wasn't meant to that purpose. Now the DEVELOPER part of PS3, in OUR point of view of seeing the JAILBREAK ,CFW, LINUX,HOMEBREWS etc. we wanted to use them for EXPLOiTING, for OUR personal use and for things we couldn't do before right?. as soon as we saw the Devs(hackers) bringing us THAT exploit(JB,CFW,HM) then lets be honest to some if not alot of people started thinking of PIRACY,COPYING BDs and GAMES to a distributional level,i saw that some people were acting so inmature(just like those kids in the GAMING part of your POST). the word was spreaded out EVERYWHERE to a point that it got to SONY's ears and HE said just the same things you was SAYING or THINKING about those KIDs that ruined the games. to them we are inmature, we inferior and im not saying i agree with them(SONY) not at all. i'm just saying that cause ALOT of people misused the Tools that the DEVS(hackers) gave us also, and who do you think are paying for the broken platters, THEM(geothot,graf-chokolo etc).
