my question is "am i able to place my 500gb sata hdd into my slim ps3, format then use restore on my slim to get my data back on?


or will i have to use data transfer utility on my ps3?

if your 500gb hdd fits in the ps3 and is on same firmware you backed the harddrive up with it should work.

if you have your data backed up on a usb you can format then restore off your backup usb.
