The PSN security breach has hurt a lot of people, from Sony to the game developers and to a large extent, the whole industry as a whole. With more than a week since the service was taken offline, things have been really hard on everyone.
However, it is the gamers who have borne the brunt of the woes as a result of this outage. Gamersmint got a lot of emails from its readers inquiring about the possibility of Sony offering them with some form of compensation as a result of this episode.
They were a bit anxious since Sony’s TOS mentions that they take no responsibility for any such events. However, when contacting Sony regarding the same, we got a response which should provide some respite to PSN users worldwide. It appears Sony is actively considering providing some sort of compensation to PSN users worldwide after the servive is restored.

Gamersmint sent forth the following enquriy to SCE UK:
People want to know if “Sony’s is considering offering some free goodies, new features implemented to PSN like Cross Game chat, any special offers for PS Plus subscribers, or any other form of compensation to PSN users as a result of this unavoidable but unfortunate PSN security breach, which has resulted in it being taken offline.”

SCE UK Senior PR Maganer, Jonatthan Farger offered a rather reassuring response for the same:
While we are still assessing the impact of this incident, we recognise that this may have had financial impact on our loyal customers. We are currently reviewing options and will update consumers when the service is restored.

It’s good to know Sony admits that they’re are well aware of the customer discomfort caused as a result of this and they’re reviewing options in order to make amends accordingly.

At least I can fight
I have heard Xbox / Microsoft has some sort of patent on cross-game chat, but you think Sony would find a way around that.

Cross game chat ftw =D but then again everytime there is a firmware update cross game chat is rumored so I'm not too excited. & if Xbox does own the rights to it they will definitely find a way around it.

I dunno what to say anymore?
As compensation I would like £100 in my playstation fund, a year free subscription to PS+ and a free game.

Ooo that would be good. =D
