I suppose the 4th of July is the best time to announce this news. This is out of the UK where "a Taiwanese manufacturer has claimed that a PlayStation 4 is on track for release in 2012, and that it will feature "body movement-based control like Kinect".

"The source indicated that manufacturing duties will fall to Foxconn and Pegatron Technology, the company that made the PS3, with a minimum of 20 million units planned to ship in 2012."

I have previously stated that I didn't think we would see a PS4 until at least 2014. This is because when they introduced PS MOVE SONY stated this was supposed to inject 5 more years into the PS3's life span. With this news coming out I hope I was wrong, because as we all know the PS3 came out ahead of it's time from a technology stand point so I'm rather excited to see what they can come up with again. Lets see how reliable this news really is, keep your fingers crossed, with that said Have a happy 4th of July everyone.

You talkin to me?
Even if it does come out I'm not buying one unless price is good (which it will not be) or my ps3 breaks, hut would be interested in seeing the design.

I would buy one because well why not, but I honestly don't think they have taken full advantage of what the ps3 could do specially when you think there are only a hand full of games that actually utilize 90 % to 100% of the ps3's power everything else is an XBOX port. But you can't blame SONY for that because there 3rd party titles so the devs are the ones that have to adapt.

We're not remotely convinced by this, partly because it flies right in the face of Sony's much-publicised ten-year strategy for the PlayStation 3, and partly because Sony execs like Jack Tretton have been so very vocal about how un-bothered they are by Kinect and Wii U. A 2012 PS3 successor would be more than a little premature.

Sony has really been saying lately that the PS3 has a much longer life span than 2012, and they just released the slim not too long ago. It just doesn't seem likely that we'll be seeing a new console in 2012.

I originally thought we wouldn't see one until 2014, but there have been a lot of variables lately such as the "HACK" and a new Nintendo system I just think SONY wants to get ahead of the curve this time around. But they spent so much money on "MOVE" I don't know if there ready to scrap that 5 year plan they had said the move would inject but maybe because of it's failure in comparison to KINECT they are.
