The future is upon us. Over the weekend, Sony issued an email to all “PlayStation Network” users. This email gave users a glimpse at Sony’s goal of “establishing a global comprehensive network platform of services across games, movies, music and more, all accessible from one convenient account.” That goal is now coming into fruition with the ” rebranding of PlayStation Network accounts to Sony Entertainment Network accounts”.

This name change has set in motion Sony’s goal to unify their services under one name; The “Sony Entertainment Network”. The name change has now been issued in the United States via a 180MB update to the PlayStation 3′s System Software from version 4.0 to 4.10. International users can update their PS3′s also.

The full change log for firmware 4.10 can be found below:

Improved web browser
Fixed the PS3′s Clock
PSN account has been renamed “SEN” account
Early adopters of the PlayStation Vita will also need to update their System Software to version 1.6. The Vita update will allow users access to their “Sony Entertainment Network” accounts while also:

Introducing the “Map Application” that allows users to check their current position, driving or walking directions to a destination, and details about your current location.
Adding Video recording functionality via the “Photo Application”.
Altering the ” Home” or “PlayStation” button to flash when the Vita is connected to a power source.
For more information about the PS3 update, visit the US PlayStation Blog. Vita users can visit Andriassang to learn more about System Software 1.6.

They have already announced that they weren't going to come out with that a while ago as the PS3 can't function it properly. There's more in depth than what I stated but that's the Just of it

All the links people keep giving to Sony's site still point to the old 4.0 update. Sony's site still lists 4.0 for download. Where is the 4.1 download?

I believe you can search for an update over the web on your PS3, it should be an optional update (not mandatory if you want to go on PSN, since I was just online). It will however, be a mandatory update in the future.

I can browse, but the point is to "update" to 4.1 So, why in the $%% would sony not even have their OWN update on their website? For all my games I need to update to 4.1 if I want to go online. Sony WTF? Update your download site! LOL

Sony never promised party chat and they said its not possible the ps3 doesn't have enough ram to run games and a chat room at the same time xbox can because it has separate ram for running it.

If I remember correctly it would also require the developers to do a bit more work then normal.
