Post: PS3 Fan Not Working

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Hey, i recently bought a PS3 off a friend of mine for £20 & he told me that the fan isn't working, when i turned on the PS3 ( without all the housing ) i could see that the fan spins for about 3-4 seconds then stops, however the PS3 doesn't switch off.

I also noticed that the fan housing had melted, so i decided to invest a bit more money into it & bought a new fan & housing off eBay, however i still have the same problem, fan spins for about 4 seconds then stops.

I also did a fan test & that span normally for about 8-9 seconds quite fast but then it stopped spinning again.

When i first opened the PS3 i noticed there was a bit of heat sink ( thermal paste ) on the motherboard itself, not a lot however, could this be the cause?

Thanks for reading =]

I agree that it could be the heat sensor. What about just the power flow to the fan?
