Pokénotify a app which scans and sends you live notifications of Pokémon nearby without needed to have the Pokémon Go app open. for it to work properly; all you need to do is simply connect to the Internet with your GPS turned on, and Pokénotify will start scanning your local area. Once scanned it will then start to display all notifications of Pokemon near you.

As from what the example pic shows it tells you where the Pokemon are at from your current location in meters, and how long you have until they eventually disappear.

Another cool thing with this app. Not only does it tell you what Pokemon are nearby but it will show its exact location via Google Maps. To do so simply just tap on the specific notification of what pokemon you want to track and Google Maps will show you the rest !

The other cool thing you also have the ability to select or deselect specific pokemon you want to receive notifications for or disable all notifications all together as well as re-enabling the notifications.

As for the moment this is only for Android users only and not available for iOS until the developers do so. The app in general is safe from Niantic. Which means you will not get banned for using it as it does not need to access your google account to work.

The application has been removed from the Google PlayStore however you can download the .APK from the link below.

Wouldn't this suck up your battery so much because it's running in the background?

This app does run in the background yes, but personally I did not really notice an increase in battery drainage on my phone.
