(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); ok i am gonna show you how to make ANY ps3 harddrive work in your ps3 without formatting it so you dont loose info on it. this is great for someone who got a new ps3 and wants to use their old hdd in it.

Here is another way to do it. If YOU HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THIS METHOD TELL ME ILL HELP THE BEST I CAN THIS SHOULD WORK. I HAVE TESTED ON MULTIPLE CONSOLES. put your real hdd in the system and go into the system restore menu (hold power until turns on and off, then hold again until two beeps) then have nothing else in your console usb wise and then go to system update and press start and select then change your hdd and let it go for a couple of seconds.. then shut the system off and turn it on again with the new hdd still in it and the hdd will work!!

hdd seagate - toshiba now
firmware 3.41 - 3.55 now
60gb - 500 gb now [/COLOR]

Are you really that :dumb:? You know that the FW isn't stored on the HDD, but on the NAND/NOR... It has been proven time and time again that you can't downgrade through HDD swapping.

Since you go into system restore, will it do anything to your current HDD? Great find/post, just worried about losing hundreds of hours worth of saves. Smile

That method is great ! Happy
But .. Can it be used backwards ? For example , I have a PS3 fat with a 500GB HDD , and if I buy another PS3 now , could I put that 500GB in the new PS3 and keep all the data in it (users/accounts , saves , images , etc ...) ?

This deserves a bump. When I get a third PS3, I can come here to upgrade the HDD to 1t and store as many games a I want on it. Thanks bro. I also used this thread to help someone out in the PS3 Exploits and Hacks Question section. :y:
