1. Rename the file to "update.bin" (no quotes)
2. Put the "update.bin" on the root of your mini sd card
3. Insert the mini sd card into your e3 flasher
The first two switches of your e3 flasher should be down, the rest should be up
Power on your ps3 and you should see the blue lights illuminate. After a minute or so you can power off the console. Your e3 flasher is now updated.
When you get ready to pull a backup, the blue lights should be dancing left and right.
