And I DO NOT want to reformat my hard drive.

it can be done download PS3 SAK (swiss army knife) v1.00 google it go to ps3 hacks click on ps3 hacks download it. its a otheros so install that boot it up wait and when it says enter selection: there should be a option saying Format PS3 HDD - EXT (OTHEROS partition) that formats otheros side only so type F and press enter then confirm with y
