after I have now for some time with the installation and configuration of megabox (alternative Linux for the PS3) on my PS3


Erstmal of some to megabox and the developers:

Megabox is an Linux operating system for the PS3. It basedly on Gentoo and comes along with xfce as user surface. By a Spanish developer team, here is ' s was developed to their homepage. Until today the English side is still “more under construction”, which does not make the project for non-Spaniards evenly more accessible. In addition, gives a few English-language sides, which concern themselves with the topic. The current megabox version reads “2.0.ps3.r1” and can be called stable.

Megabox v2.0.ps3.r1.tgz --> current megabox version as tar file

Megabox Otheros --> megabox Bootloader

LIVECD Gentoo ps3 --> Gentoo LiveCD

More is first times not needed.


1,3 Gentoo LiveCD

After to download the image file this can be burned immediately.
Mölicherweise must activate you in your fuel program the Overburn function.

1,4 megabox on USB stick copy

A USB stick with at least 1Gb storage capacity is needed.
This USB stick must be formatted FAT32.
The file megabox v2.0.ps3.r1.tgz is copied now on the USB stick.


1,5 non removable disk format

The PS3-Festplatte must be formatted and partitioniert first from the XMB.

1,6 Gentoo OtherOS bring in

2. Configuration of the megabox

2.1.6 CONTROLLER nose repair

Should press you the button in the AWN border “Boot-PS3-OS”, after the restart and the start of the PS3 OS an error will be noticeable to you. The CONTROLLERs only recognized if it by USB cables is connected. Only after you switch the PS3 off and can the CONTROLLER restarts is again gepairt. This error is in one of the next megabox versions beoben to become, up to then makes do we with the following trick. We change the instruction behind the linkage of the button, so that the PS3 only down-driven and we you then manually starting, then we do not have this Probelm no more. No expenditure is, it PS3 can over “HP” - key to be started:
